Corfu

Happy New Year! Last summer, my family and I travelled to Corfu. Since we are all dreaming of the summer months, here is a very belated post about my trip.

Corfu is a beautiful greek island with luscious green hills and striking blue beaches. We stayed in the Marbella Beach hotel which was a short drive away from the airport and Corfu Town.

The hotel was beautiful and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The island looks out to Albania and from our position we also had a good view of the hills of Corfu.

The sea was stunningly crystal clear and the pools provided a cool retreat from the mid-August sun.

After lazing around the hotel for a couple of days we headed for Corfu town. It is quite run down, but it a beautiful way; the paint may be peeling off the walls of many buildings, but there are original balconies and lampposts all over the place. If you look up can see clear blue skies dashed with hanging electrical cables and stunning blooms of flowers smile at you from every direction.

Before long we craved shade and iced coffees on the beach, so we hopped on the bus and returned to the hotel.

For the rest of the trip we continued to lounge by the pool and chill in the sea but it was thoroughly enjoyable. I'd love to travel back in the spring to enable us to explore more of the island without melting!
